The 42nd Annual General Meeting and Technical Sessions of the Geological Society of Sri Lanka (GSSL) was held on 27th February 2026 at the Department of Geology, University of Peradeniya under the theme “Geology for Earth Resources and Geo-Hazard Resilience.”

The event served as an important knowledge-sharing platform for multidisciplinary research in Earth Sciences, bringing together eminent researchers, academics, scientists, industry professionals, intellectuals, graduates, and undergraduate students. It encouraged collaboration and the exchange of scientific knowledge across various sub-disciplines of geoscience.

The programme included the inaugural session, keynote address, presentation of scholarships and medals, panel discussion, and technical sessions, providing participants with opportunities to present and discuss their latest research findings and innovative ideas.

The technical sessions particularly focused on research, value addition, resource management, and the sustainable utilization of geoscientific resources, highlighting the role of geosciences in supporting the sustainable socio-economic development of Sri Lanka.
